Description

Hollyhocks Warren Cottage is a 17th-century cottage with 18th-century re-cladding and 20th-century restoration, located on The Street in East Clandon. The building comprises two cottages set back-to-back at right angles to the street. The timber frame is exposed on the right-hand gable end, while the rest is brick-infilled with red brick. The roofs are plain tiled.

The left-hand return front is the entrance front of Warren Cottage. It is two storeys high with deep eaves supported by brackets. There is an end ridge stack to the left and a rendered plinth to the ground floor. The facade is regular, with a central gable and three-light, cambered head, diamond-pane leaded casement windows; two windows are present on each floor. The central first-floor window has been blocked. A central planked door is set within an open gabled porch supported by "rustic" tree-trunk supports. Pentice extensions project from both ends.

The right-hand return front serves as the entrance front of Hollyhocks. Here, the facade is two storeys high with a plat band over the ground floor and a central ridge stack. It features three-light casement fenestration, including a single diamond-pane leaded window on the first floor to the right. Two windows are present on each floor, with those on the ground floor set under cambered heads. A central door is set within an open gabled porch. Similar pentice extensions are present at the ends, and the right-hand side is weatherboarded.
