Description
The Old Prison is a house dating from the late 16th century that was restored in the mid-20th century. It features a timber frame that is under-built in flint rubble with brick quoins. The frame is exposed above, with flint and sandstone rubble infilling and plain tiled roofs. The building has a T-shaped plan with a gable end facing the street. It is two storeys high, with a jettied first floor over the ground floor, displaying square panel framing. On the first floor, there is one diamond pane leaded casement window, while the ground floor has a five-light window with diagonal mullions. Each floor of the left-hand recessed bay contains one window. A studded door is located at the left end, and there are chimneys at the rear left and right. The right-hand return front features a gabled bay with one casement window on each floor.
