Description

The Old Farmhouse is a house dating from the late 17th century, which was restored in the 19th century. It features red brick at the lower level with whitewashed render on the front, and is tile hung above with hipped, plain-tiled roofs. The building has two storeys, a cellar below, and attics above, which are served by two tile-hung hip-roofed dormers with leaded casement windows. There are stacks located at both the left and right ends of the house.

On the first floor, there are three slightly projecting square-pane leaded casement windows, with the outer ones being three-light windows, and three cambered-head windows on the ground floor. The original central door has been blocked by a window, and a new entrance has been created in the right-hand return front, which features a pent-roofed porch and two diamond-pane casements above on the first floor. To the right, there are two 19th-century ground floor windows.

At the rear, the house has double range roofs that are exposed, each with a hipped shape and a hip-roofed dormer at the end. Inside, there is a central lobby or corridor with a stairwell that has turned balusters. The ground floor room has exposed re-used timbers, and the right-hand room features a panelled dado. The rear room, which may have been the former kitchen, has two chamfered principal joists. Some re-used panelling can be found in the first floor cupboards, and some of the older window fittings are still present.
