Description

This is a house located in Horncastle, dating from the late 18th century, built on an older core that may date back to the 16th century. The structure is made of red brick and features a plain tiled roof, which is partly hidden by a stone-coped parapet. It stands three storeys tall, with brick dentil eaves and end stacks, one of which is star-shaped and partially rebuilt.

The front of the house has three windows, with painted wood oriel windows in the outer bays of the second floor, which are topped with modillioned cornices. The central window on the second floor is set within an architrave surround and has corbel brackets beneath it. The first floor features a tripartite glazing-bar sash window at each outer end, with reeded mullions, while the central area has casement doors framed by Doric pilasters and topped with a pentice.

The ground floor has a flat roof and is clad in colourwashed render. The original tripartite glazing-bar sash windows with Doric pilaster mullions are located at the outer ends, though the right one is now blocked. There is a central recess with ¾-glazed double doors that have overlights featuring diamond patterning on the door panels. Additionally, there are 19th-century iron railings above the first floor, designed with honeysuckle and anthemion patterns and square end newels.
