Description
Pleasant Lodge is a cottage dating from the early 19th century, built on an older core. It features incised whitewashed render cladding and a stone-coped parapet that partially obscures the plain tiled roof. The building stands two storeys high and is angled to the street on the right half. There is a stack on the left side. On the first floor, there is a round-arched sash window to the left and a square bay window projecting to the right, which has fluted mullions and eight-pane glazing-bar sash windows. Below, there is a 12-pane glazing-bar sash window set in a Doric pilaster surround. A square porch projects to the left, featuring a half-glazed and panelled door beneath a traceried transom light, along with elaborate scrolled railings leading to a balcony above. The right half of the front is angled away from the street and includes one first-floor glazing-bar sash window and a nine-pane sash window below, along with a casement window on the ground floor to the right. There is a single-storey extension to the right where the ground rises. The cottage was formerly listed with Horn Castle and is included for its group value.
