Description

Cowshot Manor is a former hall house dating from the early 16th century, with extensions added in the 17th century and restored in 1912. The building features a timber frame set on a rendered plinth, with the upper frame exposed and whitewashed brick infill. It has a plain tiled roof that is half-hipped on the left and extends down in a catslide over an outshot at the front right. The manor is two storeys high and consists of five framed bays, with a ridge stack located to the left of the center and an end stack on the right. The windows are casement style, with four on the first floor and four metal casement windows below. There is a gabled 17th-century stair-vice at the front right, which has one window on the first floor and another casement window on the ground floor of the outshot. A 17th-century panelled door is located in a gabled porch to the left of the center. At the rear, there are wings built at right angles in brick, along with additional single-storey framed extensions to the rear right.

Inside, the manor features deep brick fireplaces with cambered wooden lintels and exposed ceiling frames with chamfered joists. Bracing is visible in some of the first-floor rooms.
