Description

The Old House is an early 17th-century house with later 18th and 19th-century extensions to the rear. It is timber framed, with exposed brown brick infill, 17th-century brick on the left-hand return front and tile hanging above a plain tiled roof. The building comprises a range with a gabled front cross wing to the right end. The left range is one storey and attic in height, while the cross wing is two storeys high. A square ridge stack is located on the left range, and a corbelled stack is at the rear. A gabled, through-eaves dormer sits on the left, and there is a ground-floor square bay under a hipped roof. The cross wing has a three-light casement window on each floor. A 20th-century pentice extension is located in the re-entrant angle where a door once stood. A new entrance has been created on the right-hand return front. The left-hand return front features a framed extension to the left, a dormer, and a ground-floor casement window under a pentice hood supported by brackets.
