Description

This is a former manor house dating to the 16th century, with extensions added in the 19th and 20th centuries. It is timber-framed, with the gable on the right exposed and filled with brown brick. The remainder of the building is clad in red and brown brick. The first floor on the right is tile hung, and the roof is tiled with a half-hipped section to the left. The house is two storeys high with a tall plinth and a basement. There is an attic to the left return front, under a hipped roof dormer. The plan is T-shaped, with a cross wing to the right. A square ridge stack is positioned to the left of the centre, and an end stack is on the right. The first floor has three casement windows, and the ground floor has four windows. Two windows on the right are three-light, diamond-paned, leaded casements, set under brick relieving arches. A ribbed door is located to the left of the centre, within a gabled 20th-century timber and brick porch, approached by a flight of eight steps. The right return front is of sandstone rubble. At the rear, a catslide roof extension has two tile hung dormers above.
