Description
This building is a barn located at the entrance to Manor Hospital, likely dating from the late 16th century, with alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. It features a timber frame covered in weatherboarding and has a plain tile roof. The barn consists of three bays with a central cart entry. On the south front, there is a double board door for the cart entry, a hatch to the right bay, and the left bay has been concreted up to the mid rail. The rear of the barn has had the cart entry infilled. On the right side, there is an old board stable door on the left and a 20th-century board door on the right, along with four rectangular openings in the gable, three of which are louvred. The weatherboarding in the upper right-hand part is older.
Inside, the right bay has been divided off. The framing includes a sole plate (partly renewed), a mid rail, a wall plate, and closely spaced broad studs (some of which have been replaced). The barn features large, heavily-jowelled wall posts with arched braces connecting to the wall plate and tiebeams, queen post roof trusses, wind braces, side purlins, and broad rafters.
