Description
No 2 West Street is a mid-19th century building constructed of red brick with a pitched slate roof. It stands two storeys high and features four ranges of sash windows, some of which have glazing bars. The ground floor has a late 19th-century shop that projects slightly on the south side. This shopfront includes three windows and one double door, which are separated by pilasters covered in grey, brown, cream, and green glazed tiles. Inside, the shop is also adorned with glazed tiles, featuring a chequered flower pattern up to dado level, an ornamental dado with cream foliage on a green and brown background, and cream tiles above the dado with square white panels set in an ornamental green surround. The cashier's desk showcases Beaux Arts joinery. The building is listed for its shop. Nos 2 to 10 (even) are part of a group with No 124 High Street.
