Description

No. 17 Smallgate is an 18th-century building that has undergone some alterations. It is two storeys tall and constructed of red brick. The building features two near-flush-frame sash windows, which now only have centre glazing bars. To the left is an 18th-century wooden entrance doorcase that leads to a six-panel door. The shop front, dating from the early 19th century, has a central entrance and is decorated with vertical glazing bars, pilasters, and an entablature. The building also has a painted, toothed eaves band and is covered with pantiles. No. 17 is part of a group that includes Nos. 11 to 17 (odd).
