Handed almshouse pair. Circa 1929 by Maurice Webb. Red brick with plain tiled roof. End ridge stacks, rubbed brick coping to gable ends. 1 storey with parapet breaking through eaves on outer bays; 3 bays, one 3-light sash in outer bays. Central pier with projecting pilaster, arched recesses to either side, 1 casement in each. Part glazed doors in sides of recess bays approached by flight of 2 steps. 3 bay trabeated colonnade with square brick piers and wooden lintels, dado walls to outer bays connecting Nos.7 to 8 with Nos. 3 to 6 to south west. Chestnut Crescent was added to the original octagonal plan of Whiteley village with the buildings designed in similar style. Included for group value.
