Description

The Brett tomb, located 8 yards south of the south aisle of Christ Church in Esher, is a Grade II listed canopied rectangular chest tomb dedicated to William Balliol Brett, who died in 1899. Designed by F.J. Williamson, the tomb is made of stone and features a moulded plinth with a canopy supported by four angle compound piers that have a quatrefoil section and foliage capitals. The canopy is adorned with cresting and has a rib-vaulted underside. It includes a central roundel and a coat of arms. The tomb depicts a recumbent figure of Brett in his robes as Master of the Rolls, alongside his wife, Viscountess Esher.
