Description
The entrance piers, gates, and railings to Whiteley Village were constructed around 1912. They feature brick piers with stone dressings and iron railings, extending approximately 80 feet in length. There are two pairs of square brick piers, each with panelled sides and stone coping, standing about 10 feet high and spaced 10 feet apart at the ends. The iron gates between the piers are approximately 9 feet high and adorned with a decorative roundel band and a fillet, along with an oval band at the base. The inner gate piers rise to about 15 feet, featuring a stone band and a projecting cornice above, positioned 10 feet from the side piers, with linking railings in between. The main gate piers are flanked by lower buttresses and topped with lanterns on either side of the paved segmental headed gates, which also display a decorative roundel band, along with cast iron cartouches and shields at the center.
