Description

Ascott Earl House is a mid-18th century farmhouse located on Shipton Lane in Ascott-under-Wychwood. It is constructed from coursed rubble with freestone quoins and voussoirs to the flat arches, and has a Cotswold stone roof. The end chimneys are of corniced ashlar, with paired square shafts on the right side. The house is two storeys high with an attic, and has a symmetrical front with five windows. The windows are late 19th or early 20th century cross-mullioned casements. A half-glazed central door is sheltered by a 20th-century gabled porch. Three short, irregular gabled extensions are at the rear; the central one is a stair turret, and the outer two date from the 19th century.
