Description
Langley Mill and Millhouse is a mill and millhouse structure, likely built around 1800. It is constructed of rubble with ashlar quoins and features Cotswold stone roofs with coped verges and two corniced ashlar chimneys. The building is divided into two parts, with the left side serving as the domestic area. This section has two windows at the right-hand end, which are leaded casements with two and three lights, a ledged door to the right, and 20th-century garage doors to the left of center. The mill section on the right is taller and consists of four bays, featuring a roughly central door with loft doors above, flanked by three-light casement windows with leaded lights. There is also a segment-headed three-light window on the first floor to the right of these openings, and a gable light on the south side of the right-hand block. An old mill-stone threshold, possibly made of medieval pumice stone, is present. The mill retains all its machinery, including a rare double waterwheel with an undershot design, a timber axle, and bins. The house includes a large bake oven with an associated dough-chest.
