Description

Lower Manor Farmhouse is a house that was once used as cottages. The cross wing on the left is likely from the 17th century, while the rest of the building dates to the early 18th century. It was refurbished in the early 20th century. The structure is made of coursed rubble limestone, with the 18th-century part featuring dressed stone quoins and window jambs, and a stone slate roof. The chimney shafts are made of white brick from the 20th century, with the 18th-century block having flanking paired shafts set diagonally. The building has an irregular U-plan and is two storeys high with an attic.

The 18th-century section has three bays of windows, which contain 20th-century three-light barred wooden casements, all with wooden lintels. The left window on the ground floor is irregular, featuring only two lights, and may be set in a blocked doorway. There are two gabled roof dormers with two-light similar casements. Between the right bays is a 20th-century barred and glazed door, topped with a large 20th-century gabled wooden hood on brackets. To the left, the gable end of the 17th-century wing has a small attic light, an external chimney, and a single-storey projecting extension. Inside, there is a stop-chamfered ceiling beam across the centre bay, a winder stair in the 18th-century rear wing, and altered fireplaces.
