Description
The bale tomb, located about 3 yards south of the south transept of the Church of Holy Trinity in Ascott-under-Wychwood, is likely from the late 17th century. It is constructed of ashlar and features panelled sides and ends adorned with winged cherubs and death masks. The tomb has a relief carved coved plinth and inscription panels with leaf and tongue motifs on the north and west sides. The design includes a spiral bale with shell-niche ends.
