Description
125 and 127 Main Road is a cottage row that has been converted into a shop and dwelling. It dates from the late 17th century to early 18th century, with some alterations made in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled thatch roof with brick ridge and end stacks. It has a six-unit plan, is two storeys high, and has a seven-window range.
The front includes a late 19th-century half-glazed door with a gabled hood on the left, a 20th-century door on the right, and a stone lintel over a 20th-century door, along with timber lintels over 20th-century double doors in the centre. Most of the windows have timber lintels, except for two 19th-century two-light casements on the first floor to the right and a 19th-century two-light wood-mullioned window above the double doors.
Inside, there is a chamfered beam and quarter-turn stairs to the right, as well as a collar-truss roof with butt purlins. No. 125, which is to the left and consists of two bays, has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
