Description

The Bell Inn is a public house located on Hanborough Main Road in Long Hanborough. It dates from the late 17th century and was extended to the left in the late 18th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof, with a brick ridge stack and a right end stack finished in brick. It has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys tall with a four-window range. There is a 20th-century door to the right of centre, which is topped by a timber lintel. To the right, there is a late 19th-century canted bay window, and to the left of the door, a keyed cambered arch above a 20th-century casement window, with timber lintels over other 20th-century casements. A 20th-century extension has been added to the rear. Inside, the building features a stop-chamfered beam and an open fireplace with a wood bressumer to the right, as well as chamfered beams. It is noted for having a collar-truss roof with butt purlins.
