Description
The Church of St. Michael has a group of three chest tombs located approximately 20 meters north of the north porch. These tombs date from the late 18th century and early 19th century and are made of limestone.
The southern tomb features two fielded panels with black-letter inscriptions on each side, along with shaped end panels that have beaded surrounds. It has a moulded cornice and capping and commemorates William Couling, who died in 1813, his wife Mary, who died in 1827, and their family.
The western tomb is similar but has inscription panels flanked by raised pilasters and husk pendants at the rear. This tomb commemorates Mary Frailer, who died in 1790, and others.
The tomb to the north-west is from the late 18th century and resembles the others, but it has husk pendants and fluted pilasters that flank worn inscription panels.
