Description

The Vade memorial is a chest tomb located approximately 4 meters east of the chancel of the Church of St. Mary in Chastleton. It dates from around 1624 and is made of limestone. The tomb is rectangular in shape and features a cavetto-moulded capping. On the north side, there is a raised inscription panel adorned with strapwork ornament that commemorates John Vade, who died in 1624. A similar inscription on the south side honors his wife, Alice.
