Description

The building is a shop, Lochalsh Needlework, which incorporates part of an early 18th-century Baroque townhouse and the former stables, possibly dating to the early 17th century, of an adjoining inn, now The Fox Hotel. The stables are constructed of coursed and squared rubble stone, while the Baroque bay is of ashlar. The Baroque section has a steeply pitched, gabled roof covered in stone tiles and an east-end stone stack. The roadside facade's western bay is the two-storey and attic section of the former townhouse. It features projecting keystones above the first and attic windows, separated by a deeply undercut cornice. The attic stage has a pedimented top. The ground floor window has been removed and replaced with a three-pane 20th-century shop window. Above a part-glazed 20th-century door is the reused lintel of the original early 18th-century ground floor window. A further 20th-century window is located at first-floor level along the stable facade.
