Description

New Bridge is a Grade I listed bridge built in 1773 by Sir William Chambers. It is constructed of limestone ashlar and features three semi-circular archivolt arches. Below the balustraded parapet, there is a bracketed and modillioned cornice. The bridge has rusticated end piers, each adorned with paterae set in a fluted frieze, from which the abutments sweep out to terminal piers. Blenheim Park, where the bridge is located, is also recognized in the Historic Buildings and Monuments Commission Register of Parks and Gardens at Grade I.
