Description

Knutsford House is a house dating from 1726, built for James Nixon. It is constructed of squared and coursed limestone and features a gabled stone slate roof with stone end and ridge stacks. The house has a three-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a four-window range. There are flat stone arches above a 20th-century door, which is accompanied by a 20th-century timber porch, and early 19th-century eight-pane sash windows. The right bay contains 20th-century garage doors. At the rear, there are 19th and 20th-century additions. Inside, there is an open fireplace with a bread oven to the right and chamfered beams on the first floor.
