Description
Cobblers Cottage is a Grade II listed building located on Park Street. It consists of three cottages that have been combined into one dwelling, featuring two ranges. The right range is dated 1739 and the left range is dated 1747. The exterior is made of colourwashed coursed limestone rubble with a gabled concrete-tile roof. There is a brick stack on the left end, while the right range has a stone stack finished in brick and a stone stack on the left end. The building has an extended three-unit plan and is two stories with an attic.
The left range has two windows and features two blocked doors at the center. It has keyed flat stone arches and timber lintels above 20th-century casements, along with a hipped roof dormer. The right range is one story with an attic and has one bay. It includes timber lintels over a 20th-century door and casement, as well as a half dormer with a 19th-century three-light casement.
Inside, the left range has quartered stop-chamfered beams and an open fireplace with a wooden bressumer, along with butt-purlin roofs. The unit on the right features a chamfered beam and winder stairs leading to a small 18th-century fireplace.
