Description
Redfern Cottage is a house dating from the late 17th century, with minor alterations made in the 20th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled stone slate roof, with a stone stack at the left end that is finished in late 19th century brick. The house has a one-unit through-passage plan and is one storey high with an attic, presenting a two-window range. There are timber lintels over a blocked door to the right and 19th century casement windows, along with early 20th century gabled dormers. The entry is located at the rear. Inside, you will find chamfered beams and a stop-chamfered bressumer over an open fireplace to the left. The roof structure includes a two-bay cellar-truss design.
