Description

A house, now an office and two dwellings, was built in the late 17th century and subsequently altered. It is constructed of squared and coursed limestone with a gabled stone slate roof and 17th-century stone ridge and left-end stacks. The building follows a two-unit through-passage plan and consists of two storeys and an attic, with a five-window front. A timber lintel sits above the central 20th-century door, and a late 19th-century panelled door is located in the left bay. There is a 20th-century shop front and door to the right. Additional windows include a late 19th-century three-light ground-floor casement, a timber lintel over a late 17th-century cross window with leaded lights (to the left), two late 18th-century six-pane sashes, and two gabled roof dormers with late 19th-century two-light casements. A 18th-century two-light leaded casement is at the rear. A late 17th-century two-storey rear right wing, of similar materials, has two three-light wood-mullioned windows. A further rear section, No. 27A, is constructed of similar materials with a half-hipped roof and 20th-century door and windows. The interior of No. 27 to the right features chamfered beams and a mid-19th-century fireplace on the first floor, while No. 25 to the left has chamfered beams and winder stairs. The roof is a collar-truss design with butt purlins. No. 27A contains chamfered beads.
