Description

This group of former farm buildings, located 40 meters northeast of the barn occupied by Cotswold Woollen Weavers, is arranged in an irregular U-plan and was converted into craft workshops and galleries in the early 1980s. The south-west and north-west ranges, which include a former oat barn and stables, date from the late 18th to early 19th century, with the stable featuring a beam dated 1801. The north-east cowhouse range, which has attached walled pens, is from the later 19th century.

The buildings are constructed of coursed rubble limestone with stone slate roofs, and the earlier sections have dressed quoins. The barn has a large former cart entry in the front bay, with dressed stone jambs and 20th-century glazed infill. Other bays feature square vent holes. The stable is lofted, with the lower storey having small wooden windows flanking a central door, all with concrete lintels, and external stone steps leading up to a gabled loft door. There is a lower bay attached to the right, which has a 20th-century door and a two-light casement window. The low cowhouse range consists of five bays, each with wide openings that are blocked by 20th-century glazed doors or false doors. In front of each bay is a pen surrounded by drystone walling with rubble coping. The buildings are included for their group value.
