Description

The Red Lion Hotel is a mid-18th century building, originally a house, and now operating as a public house. It has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The exterior is colourwashed limestone rubble with a stucco front, and it has a gabled stone slate roof. The building has right-end stacks finished in brick, a 19th-century brick left-end stack, and is arranged over two storeys and an attic.

The front of the building has a symmetrical appearance. Early 19th-century cast-iron columns support a flat hood above 20th-century double doors with an overlight. To the right are paired horned sash windows. A late 19th-century square bay window with horned sashes is located on the left, and above it are three 18th-century six-pane sash windows. A moulded wooden cornice runs along the top of the building. There are two dormers in the roof. A 20th-century extension is located to the rear. The first-floor interior was not inspected.
