Description

This is a Quaker chapel, dating from 1712, and subsequently converted into four dwellings. It has undergone alterations in the late 19th century and the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble with a gabled stone slate roof. The original chapel section features a two-window range with a 20th-century porch and door. A 20th-century brick arch sits above a sash window within a gabled half dormer. A circa 1890 extension to the front right is built with matching materials and includes a single storey and attic section. This extension has ovolo-moulded architraves framing a six-pane sash window on the left and a stone-mullioned and transomed window in the gable end. To the left of the extension is a through-archway, leading to Chapter Cottage, which dates from the 18th century and is constructed of similar materials. Chapter Cottage is a two-storey, two-window range with a 20th-century door and sash windows. The interior of the former chapel retains a collar-truss roof with butt purlins.
