Description
92 and 94 High Street is a house dating from the early to mid-16th century, with later alterations and a refronting in the early 19th century. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled Welsh slate roof with a brick end stack. The building has an L-plan layout with a rear right wing and stands three storeys tall, displaying a two-window range.
A lead pentice roof covers the carriageway, which is flanked by square bay windows; the left bay contains a 20th-century door, while the right bay features a late 19th-century tripartite sash window. On the first floor, there are timber lintels over early 19th-century tripartite sashes, and the second floor has 8-pane sashes. The rear wing, dating from the 18th century, is made from similar materials and has a brick ridge stack.
Although the interior was not inspected, it is noted to have stop-chamfered beams. The central carriageway shows evidence of a former 16th-century through-passage, with a morticed stop-chamfered partition beam to the left and an early to mid-16th-century plank-and-stud partition to the right, featuring a chamfered rail and muntins.
