Description
The Old Vicarage is a vicarage that has been converted into a house. It dates from the early 19th century, with a rear section from the 17th century. The building is constructed of squared and coursed limestone and features a gabled stone slate roof with brick end stacks. It has an L-shaped plan with a rear right wing and stands two storeys tall with an attic, presenting a symmetrical three-window facade. The front includes a half-glazed door from the early 19th century, with timber lintels, and eight-pane sash windows above tripartite sashes. There are three gabled roof dormers fitted with 20th-century casements. At the rear, there is a two-storey bay with eight-pane sashes on the left side.
The 17th-century rear block is one storey with an attic and has a two-window range featuring 18th-century three-light casements on the right. This section is rendered over timber framing with a stone rear wall, a gabled roof covered in 20th-century tiles, and a brick end stack. An extension to the left of the rear range has been remodelled in the 20th century.
Inside, the vicarage retains early 19th-century shutters and panelled doors. There is an early 19th-century dog-leg staircase with stick balusters to the right and a quarter-turn service staircase at the rear. An early 19th-century fireplace is located on the first floor. The 17th-century block features a chamfered beam, a remodelled open fireplace, and a butt-purlin roof.
