Description

No. 27 is a house dating from the late 17th and early 18th centuries. It is constructed of coursed limestone rubble, with a gabled stone slate roof, hall-hipped to the left side, and 20th-century brick chimney stacks. The house is arranged in an L-shape with a rear right wing. It has two storeys and a symmetrical two-window front. A timber lintel sits above the central 20th-century door, which has a timber porch. Late 19th and early 20th-century three-light casement windows are similarly topped by timber lintels. A short, single-storey service range from the early 19th century is located to the left. A rear outshut adjoins the rear right wing, comprising one storey and an attic, with a two-window layout. This outshut has chamfered timber lintels over 20th-century casements and a blocked door, as well as a gabled dormer. The interior has not been inspected, but is likely to be of interest.
