Description

Breach Farmhouse and the attached barn range is a farmhouse, now used as a house, dating from the 18th century, with minor alterations from the mid-19th century. The building is constructed of coursed limestone rubble and features a gabled concrete tile roof, with an end stack made of stone finished in brick. It has a two-unit plan, is one storey high with an attic, and has a two-window range. A mid-19th century brick flat arch is present over the central 20th-century door, with a similar arch to the left and a timber lintel to the right over mid to late 19th century two-light casements that have glazing bars. There are also similar casements in the gabled dormers. To the left, there is a timber lintel over a 20th-century door, and an 18th-century outshut with a 20th-century plank door in the front wall.

The attached barn range, built around 1840 and made of similar materials, is located to the right. It features a two-light window with glazing bars above a 20th-century glazed door on the left, and has a keyed segmental brick arch over the entry, flanked by ventilation slits with lozenge-shaped tops. Inside the barn, there is a stable in the right bay with stone steps leading to the first-floor granary. The interior of both the farmhouse and barn has not been inspected but is likely to be of interest.
