Description

This is a mid-18th century house, subsequently refronted in the early 19th century, and now comprising two shops and two dwellings. It has a courtyard plan. The front of the building is constructed from coursed limestone rubble, with a stucco finish. It has a gabled Welsh slate roof and brick end stacks. The front façade has two storeys and an attic, with a three-window arrangement. It features a dentilled cornice and a pedimented hood over a central 19th-century six-panelled door with four glazed panes. To the right of the door is a canted bay window, and square bay windows flank a 20th-century door to the left. The first floor has six-pane sash windows set within moulded stone architraves. There are two 19th-century gabled dormers in the attic.

At the rear, there are two gabled wings. One wing is rendered, while the other is a mid-19th century two-storey structure built of brick, attached to an earlier 18th-century two-storey block constructed from limestone rubble with a gabled Welsh slate roof. A limestone rubble wall, topped with stone slate coping, encloses the right side of the courtyard. Inside, the front block contains ogee-stopped beams. A partial inspection revealed this detail.
