Description

This barn, located approximately 45 meters east of Chestlion Farmhouse, dates from the late 18th century and has undergone minor later alterations. It is constructed of roughly coursed limestone rubble and features a hall-hipped roof covered with asbestos sheets. The barn has half-hipped opposing cart entrances with double doors. Notably, the south end contains a significant fragment of early 14th century two-light reticulated window tracery that has been repurposed as an owl-hole. Inside, the barn has a double-purlin roof supported by five bays, with collar and tie beam trusses and raking struts extending from the tie beams to the principal rafters.
