Description
John Southeby Cottage, Richard Hassel Cottage, and Robert West Cottage are three cottages that date from the 17th century, with a mid-18th century bay added to the right. They are constructed of uncoursed limestone rubble and feature a half-hipped thatch roof, with a ridge stack made of stone and finished in brick from the end of the 17th century. The cottages have a five-unit plan that has been extended to six units, and they stand two storeys tall, with the right bay being one storey and an attic. The front has a five-window range with scattered fenestration. There are timber lintels over three 20th-century plank doors and 20th-century windows, including a central blocked door. The top left and bottom right windows are 18th-century two-light leaded casements. The mid-18th century bay features 19th-century two-light and 18th-century two-light leaded dormer casements above a segmental brick arch over an 18th-century three-light leaded casement with a brick apron. The interior has cased beams, but it has only been partially inspected.
