Description
Home Farmhouse is a farmhouse that dates back to the 14th century, with a cross-wing at the rear. The hall range at the back is from around 1600, and there is a kitchen at the end of the cross-wing. The front range was built in the early 18th century. The building features a coursed squared stone plinth and is constructed of red brick with flared headers in Flemish bond, topped with an old plain-tile roof and brick end stacks. It is two stories tall with an attic and has a five-window range.
The central entrance has a six-panel part-glazed door with an overlight and a 20th-century segmental wood hood. The ground floor has 20th-century segmental-headed 12-pane horned sash windows with cambered brick heads, while the first floor features segmental-headed 12-pane unhorned sashes, also with cambered brick heads. A flat brick band runs between the ground and first floors, and there is a wood dentil cornice at the eaves. A gabled full dormer is located at the center, which contains a two-light casement window.
Inside, there is an 18th-century straight-flight staircase in the front range, and the cross-wing at the rear has a two-bay crown-post roof.
