Description
Blewbury Manor is a manor house, now a private residence, with a 17th-century cross-wing on the left and an 18th-century front and main range. It has undergone alterations in the 19th and 20th centuries. The building is constructed of red brick with flared headers in Flemish bond and features an old plain-tile hipped roof with brick stacks.
The structure is two stories high with a central range that has two windows, flanked by single-bay cross-wings on both sides. To the right of the center, there is a six-panel door with a decorative overlight and a painted wood surround featuring thin Doric pilasters that support a flat hood. The left cross-wing has a four-panel part-glazed door at the end, which has a segmental brick head. All openings are fitted with 16-pane unhorned sash windows, with the ground floor windows on the left and right also having segmental brick heads.
Inside, there is an 18th-century straight-flight staircase with winders at the base, featuring vase and barley-sugar twist balusters and a moulded handrail. The 17th-century cross-wing has a queen-post roof, and many rooms contain 18th-century two-panel doors.
