Description
Odstone Farmhouse's oxen stable, now used as a farm store and chicken house, dates from the early 18th century. It is constructed of uncoursed rubble made from sarsen and chalk, with brick dressings and a stone slate roof. The building has a U-shaped plan and features a front with a layout of 1:2:1 bays, where the central two bays are recessed in brick. The lower part of the walls is made of sarsen, while the upper part is made of chalk, separated by a brick string course and topped with brick dentilled eaves. The corners are accentuated with brick quoining, and the windows have segmental brick arches above them. The rear elevation includes two ledged doors and three louvred windows, all featuring brick dressings and segmental arches. Inside, there is a collar-truss roof supported by butt purlins.
