Description
No. 8 London Street is an early 19th-century, three-storey house built of chequered brick. It features a three-window range, originally two windows wide, with an east side added in the early 20th century to match the original design. The building has a stone cornice and a renewed parapet, along with a stone band at the second-floor level. The second-floor windows have gauged brick flat heads. On the first floor, there are three projecting wooden oriel windows, which are three-sided and have moulded bases. The first and second floors contain sash windows. The ground floor has two shopfronts, with the west side displaying a symmetrical 19th-century front that includes a canted three-sided central window flanked by a door and a window, all topped with an overall frieze and cornice. The east side features a small three-sided projecting window. This building is listed for its group value.
