Description
Bishop's Manor Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the mid-17th century. It features roughcast, probably over timber-framing, and has an old plain-tile cross-gabled roof. A massive lateral stack is located to the right, made of coursed stone rubble with brick dressings and two diagonally-set brick flues, along with a brick ridge stack on the left return. The building is two storeys high with an attic and has a two-window range that is positioned at right angles to the street.
The central entrance consists of a six-panel door with a flat hood supported by brackets. On the ground floor to the left and on the first floor to the left and centre are three-light casements, and the eaves are curved with two cross-gables featuring banded fish-scale tile-hanging. The left return, facing the street, has three-light casements on the ground floor with gabled hoods on brackets, and two jettied cross-gables in the attic supported by carved brackets and a moulded bressumer. The cross-gables display false close-studded timber-framing.
At the rear, there is an 18th-century wide sash door at the centre, and the fenestration consists of irregularly placed casements. Inside, the farmhouse is noted for its massive chamfered spine beams with ogee end stops.
