Description

The Red House is a house located on London Street in Great Faringdon, built around 1840. It is constructed of coursed rubble and brick, now painted. The building has three storeys and features a low-pitched slate roof with bracketed eaves and a decorated soffit. There are stacks at the end walls, and the brickwork is detailed at the angles and window sides. The façade has a three-window range, with the central openings being blank and glazing bar sash windows on the sides. The windows are topped with splayed stone lintels, and the end walls are made of rubble stone. Nos 48 to 54 form an important group at the entry to Faringdon from the east.
