Description

Canal Bridge is a road bridge over a disused canal, built around 1805. It is constructed of ironstone rubble with red brick dressings and parapet walls that have stone copings. The parapet walls are segmental in plan and terminate in piers that project away from the road. The bridge features an elliptical arch that is quoined in brick, along with a projecting band of two courses of bricks at the base of the parapet walls. This bridge is a remnant of the Wiltshire and Berkshire Canal, which was closed in 1914.
