Description

Ginge Manor House is a manor house dating from the early 17th century, with an early 18th-century cross-wing on the left and a 20th-century addition on the right. The building is constructed of brick, with some small areas of timber-framing at the center and brick infill. It features a complex old plain-tile roof and various brick stacks. The house is single storey with an attic and has a four-window range, while the cross-wing to the left is two storeys with an attic and has a two-storey, five-window range. A 20th-century panelled door is located at the center of the front. The windows have an irregular arrangement of sashes and casements.

On the left side of the cross-wing, the brickwork is red with flared headers in Flemish bond, and it has a half-hipped roof. The windows here feature 18-pane unhorned sashes, except for the center openings on the ground and first floors, which have 12-pane unhorned sashes. A shaped brick band runs between the ground and first floors, and there is a dentil cornice at the eaves. The attic has two full dormers with segmental pediments. At the rear, there is a six-panel door with a wood Doric pilaster surround and a flat hood supported by carved brackets, positioned to the right of center, along with an irregular arrangement of casements and sashes.

Inside, there is a dog-leg staircase with a barley-sugar twist, fluted balusters, a moulded handrail, and a panelled dado. Some rooms in the early 18th-century cross-wing feature early 18th-century panelling.
