Description
The entrance gates, gatepiers, screens, and attached lodge located approximately 230 meters north-northwest of Kingston House in Kingstone Bagpuize Park date back to the early 18th century. The structure features limestone construction, with rusticated and ashlar piers that have a moulded plinth and entablature topped with ball and urn finials. The urns on the central piers are adorned with finely-carved flowers. The fine wrought-iron double gates have a scrolled undulate band and a crested overthrow arch, with similar pedestrian gates on the sides. The flanking screens are divided into two bays by ironwork piers. To the left, there is a Tudor-style lodge built in 1865, when the gates were relocated to their current position. This lodge is made of limestone rubble with ashlar dressings, features a stone slate roof, a chamfered doorway, and mullioned windows.
