Description
No. 17 Market Place is a corner building dating from around 1830, featuring a stucco facade. It stands three stories tall with a hipped, low-pitched slate roof and fine deep coved eaves adorned with large acanthus decorations. The building has chamfered quoins and a two-window arrangement on the east front, with three windows on the north side. The windows have moulded architrave surrounds and coved sills, while the upper floors feature glazing bar sash windows. The ground floor on the north side has modern windows, with "BALLARD" in deep incised lettering above. The east side has a modern shopfront that includes matching lettering, supported by two 19th-century moulded console brackets.
