Description

37 Ock Street is a former public house known as the Cock and Tree, dating from the 18th century, with an altered front. The building has two storeys and features a tile roof that curves out on brackets. It is constructed of red and blue brick, with a brick band above the first floor that breaks over late 19th-century Jacobean oriel windows. The first floor has one central window without glazing bars, set in a wood flush frame with a gauged brick arch. On the ground floor, there is a 19th-century transom and mullion with stained glass. The building has a stone plinth and a doorcase with reeded pilasters and a dentil cornice. Nos. 35 to 41 (odd) form a group with this building.
