Description
Nos. 8 and 9 Abbey Close are former properties numbered 22 and 22A, with parts dating back to 1640 and the main section originating from the mid-18th century. The buildings are rough rendered. The right-hand section of No. 8 is two storeys high with a gabled roof and features two casement windows. The middle section has early 19th-century window designs, with one window on each storey, featuring a flush frame and a moulded cornice. The main building is three storeys tall and includes cellars, with two gables facing the road. No. 9 has three sash windows, one on each storey. No. 8 features an early 19th-century two-light sash window in a wood frame and a two-storey canted bay with three lights and glazing bars. There are cellar windows present as well. No. 9 also includes part of the premises to the left (No. 10), which has a single sash window above a six-panel door (with two glass panels) flanked by narrow lights in a flood architrave, topped with a flat hood supported by carved brackets. Nos. 7 to 11 Abbey Close form a group.
